It was another record-breaking Specialty for EGRC, as our Club received a total entry of 256, including 64 obedience entries and 58 rally entries, an all-time record in those two venues, primarily due to The Club’s decision to open those events to all-breeds. There were 188 dogs entered in total! We also had another exciting Best Of Breed win this year, with CH Cider Mills Walk N The Woods, “Aspen,” earning Best In Specialty honors!!! Her owner, Joan Cleary, of Sarasota, handled “Aspen.” “Aspen” also went BOS on Sunday, March 12, 2006 at the all-breed show, so she had a great weekend!
Going
Best
Opposite Sex at
our Specialty was CH
Toasty's Race for Love, SDHF, “Racer,” owned
by EGRC members Pam and Jerry Oxenberg and handled by Pam.
Another
EGRC Golden Retriever took the JAM,
CH
Karagold's Tyme T'Work D'Magic, CD, JH, VC, “Disney.”
As
a very big asterisk to this honor, at the all-breed shows that weekend, “Disney”
not only won BOB, each day, but also went Sporting Group 1, and Sporting
Group 2!!! His Sporting
Group 1 win put him in the Golden Retriever Club of America Show
Dog Hall of Fame and he now has earned the SDHF designation!!!
Terrie Pennington is “Disney’s” owner.
Of course, points also were of a “Major” importance at our Specialty. Tangleloft Old Glory At Heart went WD/BW for a 4-Point Major from the Open Dog Class. He incidentally also took the second 4-Point Major the next day at the all-breed show, making it a very productive weekend for him. Myles Schnitman, of Bellerose, NY, is the owner.
Going WB from the Bred-By Class was an EGRC Golden Retriever, Toasty’s
Treasure Island, “Treasure,” and she also took home a 4-Point Major
for her owner/breeders, Pam and Jerry Oxenberg, with Pam handling.
RWD, from the Open Dog Class, was Ambersand’s Theodore Cleaver, owned and bred by Dr Charles J and Ellen B Bartkus of Vero Beach and handled by Ellen. RWB, from the
Open Bitch Class, was Tangleloft Skylark, co-owned by Barbara Silverman
and Sandra Dunn, of Boca Raton. Best In Sweepstakes went to an EGRC Golden Retriever, EagleRidge Pot At The End Of The Rainbow, “Yukon,” co-owned by Dennis Williams and Kristin Woodward. Dennis is the breeder/handler too, and took this win from the 15-18 Month Puppy Dog Class.
Best Opposite Sex to Best In Sweepstakes went to Sandpiper’s Strip Tease, from the 6-9 Month Puppy Bitch Class. She is owned, handled and bred by Patty Pace of Pinehurst, NC.
Taking both Best Veteran In Sweepstakes, as well as Best Veteran honors, was CH Toasty’s Sting Like A Bee, OS, SDHF, “Beezer.” This EGRC Golden Retriever is owned and bred by Pam and Jerry Oxenberg and handled by Pam.
Going Best Opposite Sex to Best Veteran In Sweepstakes was Ambersand’s NY Ranger, JH, owned and bred by Dr Charles J and Ellen B Bartkus and handled by Ellen.
Best Puppy, from the 6-9 Month Puppy Dog Class, went to Gemini’s Fireworks In Flight, owned by Deborah Busch and Brittany Hill of Cocoa, FL.
Best Junior Handler was Nate Whitney, of Largo, FL. Winning
all the rosettes in obedience, for HIT and HC, as well as HIT
and HC Golden Retriever, was EGRC’s own Diane Davis and Merichase
Photo Finish UD, “Sprint.”
Congratulations
to everyone!!! A BIG THANK YOU
also goes out to Show Chair Pat Andrews for doing another great job this
year! Her Show Committee also worked hard and their efforts are also so much
appreciated. Thank
you to our fine panel of judges: Sweepstakes and Veteran Sweepstakes Judge Tammy
Tomlinson, Breed and Junior Showmanship Judge Denise Reel, Obedience
Judge Michael Carlucci and Rally Judge Jeffrey Kern for playing a
part in our having such a successful show.
Now
the quest begins to find a new Show Chair to lead next year’s team!
