Barkapalooza 2008, Saturday and Sunday, February 9 and 10, 2008,Markham Park, 16001 West State Road 84, Sunrise, FL 33326. The party lasts from 10 am – 5 pm on Saturday and Noon – 5 pm on Sunday. Our friends from Everglades Golden Retriever Rescue, Inc. (EGRR) will be one of several rescue groups represented at this weekend event promoting pet adoption. Four legged members of the family can have fun in several Splash and Dash pools, or the Off-Leash Dog Park. You can also watch some of the top canines and their handlers compete in the National American Fly ball Association Tournament. Stop by and say hello to our friends at EGRR and show your support! If you’re wondering when your Golden will earn those last few CH points or that final title leg, you can also visit the pet psychic. Several other vendors selling the latest in doggie gear and goodies will also be there. The event is free, but weekend admission charges by the park will be in effect. ***EGRC Responsible Dog Ownership Presentation, Monday, February 25, 2008, Coral Reef Senior High School, 10101 SW 152 Street, Miami, FL 33157, 12:30 pm – 2 pm. Veterinary science students in this “mega-magnet”high school, one of the largest in the country, will meet Pat Andrews, Kara Clarkand Hermine Scolnik as they discuss the many facets of Responsible Dog Ownership. Serving as demo dogs will be Pat’s Toasty’s Perfect Pitch CD, RN,CGC, “AJ,” Kara’s Amberwood’s Celtic Gold Fiona CD, RAE, CGC, TDI, “Fiona,” and Hermine’s Good Gollie Miz Mollie, CGC, TDI, “Mollie.” Event coordinators are EGRC AKC Public Education Coordinator Linda Rappaport andCommittee Member Kristi Satchleben.
Conformation Fun Match, Monday, February 25, 2008, sponsored by GoldCoast Dog Club, Davie Rodeo Arena, 4201 SW 65 Way, Davie, FL 33314. Registration is from 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm. As part of the school’s two week lesson plan on dog ownership, Kara Clark and Linda Rappaport will visit with 25 9th and 10th graders to discuss the sport of Obedience and Rally and demonstrate basic and advanced skills. Serving as demo dogs will be Kara’s Amberwood’s Celtic Gold Fiona CD, RAE, CGC, TDI, “Fiona,” and Linda’s Toasty’s North Lake Jake RN, CGC, TDI,“Jake.” Event coordinated by Public Education Committee member Kara Clark.

EGRC hosts its sixth annual Specialty, featuring Goldens competing inbreed, sweepstakes, veteran sweepstakes and junior showmanship. For the third year in a row, EGRC is also hosting all-breed obedience and rally at its show. Ask the boss for the day off!
